Welcome to the TRS Health Education web page!  Health Education is taught by Mrs. Edwards to grades 5, 6, 7, and 8.  Topics vary by grade but range from home alone safety, drug education, physical fitness, and the body systems in relation to physical activity.  The TRS Wellness program offers 45 days of Health and 90 days of Physical Education.

Most recently, fifth graders have been learning about self esteem and how they have the power to change this.  We will be focusing on character traits such as respect and responsibility after our spring break.

Sixth grade has just wrapped up the Drug Education unit, concentrating on the effects of alcohol, tobacco, and marijuana. Pembroke Academy SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) students visited out sixth graders to further discuss the effects of poor decision-making.

Seventh graders are currently ending the Nutrition unit.  Students were responsible for recording and analyzing their diets by utilizing the
MyPyramid.gov web site.  This proofed to be a useful and insightful tool!  Students had to evaluate their eating habits and make suggestions for improvement.

Eighth grade have just ended a unit on stress and coming up with ways to cope with stress.  (Just in time for high school course selections!) Time and money management were also be covered.  The Eighth grader has also been learning about body image, eating disorders, and the role that media has on this.  Our next unit?  The Skeletal System and physical fitness!
