Students are currently working to develop a persuasive business letter. Students were given various topic choices or could create a topic of their own as long as it was realistic. We have spent class time prewriting, developing thesis statements. Over the course of the next two weeks students will develop multiple drafts and will be required to spend an adequate amount of time revising and editing with peers.
As for our weekly vocabulary, students have currently been assigned words from The Giver, which is being read in literature class. We will continue to incorporate words from the text until they have completed it. Weekly assignments will still be given to encourage students to use the words in their writing, as well as biweekly quizzes to test the information that they are retaining.
