THREE RIVERS SCHOOL – CO-CURRICULAR JOB DESCRIPTION

 

DEFINITION:

The School Board and the administrative personnel realize that a sound educational system cannot be built and maintained without definite procedures for the recruitment of personnel.

ACTIVITY:

Coach (grades 4-8)

PRE-REQUISITE:

  1. To have the ability to work with and successfully channel the efforts of students.
  2. To have management, organizational, and practical skills sufficient to administer the activity properly.
  3. To have and be willing to expend an amount of time (aside from time contracted for regular school duties) sufficient to carry out a viable and successful program.
  4. To be familiar with the unique emotional and developmental characteristics of early adolescent.

DUTIES:

  1. To work through and with the administration while conducting the activity and in deciding upon the frequency of games and practice sessions.
  1. To work through and with the administration in bringing the activity to successful closure, i.e. collection of equipment, supplies and awards recognition.
  2. To be responsible for student conduct and compliance with school regulations during any activity related to this co-curricular assignment.
  3. To be responsible for implementation of the school extra-curricular activity philosophy as written.
  4. To promote good school and community relations.
  5. To carefully supervise all bus and gym activities; be the last one to leave the building at all times, check all lights and secure all doors in your area of responsibility.
  6. To act as a positive role model for athletes and to encourage enjoyment of sports, leadership, responsibility, and school pride and spirit.
  7. To work toward increased student interest and participation in the activity.
  8. To provide adequate conditioning for safe performance.
  9. To treat and/or refer all injuries with caution. Document all injuries and treatment given.
  10. To maintain communication with parents regarding rules, time for practices and games.
  11. To carry out other duties as assigned by the administration.

A co-curricular activity compliments, reinforces, and extends the academic curriculum and offers students opportunities and outlets not available within their regular course of studies.

ACTIVITY:

Student Council Advisor

PRE-REQUISITE:

  1. To have the ability to work with and successfully channel the efforts of students.
  2. To have management, organizational, and practical skills sufficient to administer the activity properly.
  3. To have and be willing to expend an amount of time (aside from time contracted for regular school duties) sufficient to carry out a viable and successful program.
  4. To be familiar with the unique emotional and developmental characteristics of early adolescent.

DUTIES:

  1. To work through and with the administration in planning activities.
  2. To keep accurate and timely financial records dealing with the activity and to make such records available to the administrator on request.
  3. To work through and with the administration in bringing the activity to successful closure.
  4. To be responsible for student conduct and compliance with school regulations during any activity related to this co-curricular assignment.
  5. To be responsible for the proper care of equipment, the wise use of supplies, and the security of school property.
  6. To promote good school and community relations.
  7. To plan and supervise all meetings, activities, field trips, and fund raisers associated with class activities.
  8. To act as a positive role model for students and to encourage leadership, responsibility, technical skills and school pride and spirit.
  9. To maintain contact with 7th and 8th grade staff members for the purpose of keeping them informed and gathering information from them.
  10. To understand and be responsible for implementation of the philosophy and rationale of extra-curricular activities.
  11. To carry out other duties as assigned by the administration.

  3. To have and be willing to expend an amount of time (aside from time contracted for regular school duties) sufficient to carry out a viable and successful program.
  4. To be familiar with the unique emotional and developmental characteristics of early adolescent.

DUTIES:

  1. To work through and with the administration while organizing and conducting activities and arranging the frequency of games and practice sessions.
  2. To work through and with the administration in bringing activities to closure, i.e. collection of equipment, awards recognition, sports banquet.
  3. To supervise the co-curricular sports activities and to keep the administration informed as to their progress.
  4. To be responsible implementation of the extra-curricular activity philosophy as written.
  5. To promote good school and community relations.
  6. To act as a positive role model for athletes and to encourage enjoyment of sports, leadership, responsibility, and school pride and spirit.
  7. To work toward increased student interest and participation in the activity.
  8. To notify the administration of student athletes having academic problems. Student academic progress will be checked with teachers at the beginning of each new sport season and again half way through the season.
  9. To schedule all athletic contests.
  10. To participate in the hiring of coaches.
  11. To evaluate needs and prepare a budget for co-curricular activities.
  12. To cancel practices and/or games if school is cancelled.
  13. To carry out other duties as assigned by the administration.
