SCHOOL DISTRICT POLICY
ACCESS
TO/USE OF TOBACCO PRODUCTS
This Tobacco Use Policy is designed to comply
with State Statute (Chapter 338) and to address the overwhelming evidence that
smoking and other forms of tobacco use are dangerous to everyone exposed. Any
situation that potentially exposes school children to an environment that
contains smoking by-products and/or presents an opportunity for students to
observe the use of tobacco is inappropriate, both from a health and an
educational viewpoint.
1. No person shall use any tobacco product in any
Pembroke School District facility, on the grounds of any Pembroke School
District facility, on District busses or at District-sponsored activities.
1. No person shall sell any tobacco product to a person
under the age of 18.
1. Sale of single cigarettes is prohibited.
1. No person under the age of 18 may purchase, attempt to
purchase, possess, or use any tobacco product.
1. No person shall distribute free tobacco products
except in areas where minors are denied access.
Those students and employees who violate this
policy will face disciplinary action as prescribed by the district. In
addition, adults may also be in violation of state laws punishable by court
fines ranging from $100 to $750 and/or community service hours.
