POLICY STATEMENT
USE OF PRIVATE VEHICLES ON SCHOOL BUSINESS
The Board recognizes the need for some school employees and parents to
use their own automobiles for school purposes on occasion. To safeguard the district,
employees, parents and students in matters of liability, particularly as they relate to an
employee or parent transporting a student or students, the following policy shall be
observed:
- To use a private vehicle for school purposes, the employee or parent must have written
approval of the Superintendent or his or her designee and must adhere to the following:
- Employees and parents requesting to use their cars for school business purposes shall
show evidence of appropriate liability coverage. A photocopy of the coverage document
shall be kept on file at the school office. a minimum coverage of $100,000/$300,000
liability insurance is required.
- The district shall assume no responsibility in case of crash/collision unless the
employee has the authorization described above.
- Drivers must comply with New Hampshires seat belt law. Children who are required
to use seat belts are prohibited from being transported unless they are available and
used.
- No student shall be sent on school errands using any automobile.
- No student shall transport any other student to and from the Vocational Education Center
or to and from field and sports trips.
- Students must return to school on school transportation unless the parent or guardian
make personal contact with the coach or supervisor of the school function to secure
permission for any alternative transportation arrangement.
