POLICY STATEMENT
JOB DESCRIPTION: ASSISTANT HEADMASTER - PEMBROKE ACADEMY
Specific duties include:
1. Carrying out the policies and directives of the Pembroke School Board, Superintendent and Headmaster.
2. Striving for constant administrative growth and maintaining professional certification.
3. Participating as a member of an administrative team to effect total school planning.
4. Supervising student attendance and the maintenance of attendance records and following up attendance issues with teachers, students, and parents.
5. Participates in the staff recruitment and selection process as needed.
6. Participates in the evaluation of certified and non-certified staff as needed.
7. Assuming overall responsibility for student behavior and discipline and the initiating, planning, and implementation of regulations to carry out this responsibility fairly, efficiently, effectively and legally.
8. Obtaining and assigning substitute teachers and participating in their training and evaluation.
9. Working with the Headmaster, teachers, and custodians to insure that the building is well maintained, safe, secure and clean and reporting problem areas promptly.
10. Assigning and supervising all non-teaching duties and coverage for home basketball games and dances.
11. Supervising school-wide activities and services such as bus transportation, athletic trips, teacher and student parking, the cafeteria and student courtyard area and assembly programs as assigned by the Headmaster.
12. Working closely with area law enforcement agencies, the courts, alternative educational agencies, and the counseling staff to meet student and school needs.
13. Orienting new staff in the policies and procedures of Pembroke Academy.
14. Representing the school and interpreting its policies to parents and the communities served by Pembroke Academy as assigned by the Headmaster.
15. Assuming responsibility for the operation of the school in the Headmaster's absence.
16. Carrying out other related duties as assigned by the Headmaster.
