POLICY STATEMENT
JOB DESCRIPTION: HEADMASTER - PEMBROKE ACADEMY
The Headmaster (principal) of Pembroke Academy assumes overall responsibility for the administration of the school and the direction of all regular and co-curricular programs and support services.
Specific duties include:
1. Carrying out the policies and directives of the Pembroke School Board and Superintendent.
2. Striving for constant administrative growth and maintaining professional certification.
3. Supervising instruction and planning for its improvement.
4. Assessing staffing needs, participating in the staff selection process, evaluating job performance, and forwarding recommendations regarding staff to the Superintendent and School Board.
5. Supervising curriculum development and implementing completed and accepted plans.
6. Bearing responsibility for the scheduling of students and the assigning of staff to teaching and non-teaching duties.
7. Bearing responsibility for planning for and maintaining discipline and a positive teaching and learning environment.
8. Organizing, coordinating, or sponsoring appropriate meetings, committees, and in-service groups for staff and co-curricular and class activities for students.
9. Compiling and presenting a school-wide educational budget under the direction of the Superintendent.
10. Bearing responsibility for the purchase, inventory and care of equipment, supplies, and furniture in the school.
11. Working with the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds to insure a safe, secure, clean, properly maintained environment for students and staff and to promote energy conservation wherever possible.
12. Bearing responsibility for all attendance and other student and school records and reports required by the central administration or Department of Education.

13. Participating on building-wide, district, SAU #53, or external committees as assigned by the central administration and acting as a spokesman for the school or district as required.
2. Working to maintain continuous, meaningful contact with parents and citizens of the communities served by the school, soliciting, input, hearing and answering concerns, interpreting school policies, programs, and goals, and forming and fostering linkages.
3. Promoting coordination of effort between Pembroke Academy and other district and AREA schools in the areas of curriculum and student services.
4. Acting as liaison between staff, students and central administration.
5. Delegating duties and responsibilities equitably and wisely to faculty and support staff.
6. Carrying out relating duties as assigned by the Superintendent and School Board.
