POLICY STATEMENT

JOB DESCRIPTION: PRINCIPAL - PEMBROKE HILL SCHOOL

The Principal of Pembroke Hill shall be responsible for the administration of all programs within the school. Responsibilities shall include the areas of instructional program and its support services, plant maintenance, community and parent involvement, personnel management, pupil services, fiscal management and general administrative services.

Specific duties shall be:

1. To carry out the policies and procedures set forth by the Pembroke School Board and the Superintendent.

2. To maintain professional certification and be actively involved in professional meetings and organizations.

3. To supervise the overall curriculum and assist in maintaining the appropriate scope and sequence of skills within each program.

4. To keep staff informed of current practices and policies, thus encouraging professional growth and interaction.

5. To be responsible for providing all children with a basic educational program supported by services to meet individual needs when applicable.

6. To set up and administer daily routines for staff and students (i.e. recess, specialists, field trips).

7. To evaluate and supervise each staff member for the purpose of improving instruction and student achievement.

8. To organize and supervise all faculty meetings, in-service programs and school functions.

9. To be responsible for the selection of high quality staff for the school.

10. To support staff in parent conferences and community relations.

11. To evaluate and supervise all non-certified personnel.

12. To promote and carry out the Pembroke Discipline Philosophy in an effective manner.

13. To act as a liaison between staff, school board and community for the purpose of promoting effective school practices.

14. To develop and manage a budget that is educational in scope and financially adequate in need.
