Technology Plan

Technology is an integral part of the educational mission of our schools. The implementation and use of technology will focus on the following areas:

  • students' access to and proficiency with technology
  • use of technology to facilitate the operation of the schools
  • embedding technology into the instructional practices of the schools
  • enhancing internal and external communication.

Technological decision-making in the Pembroke School District is largely decentralized.  The SAU-level Director of Information Technology sets broad guidelines to be followed in all SAU 53 districts (for example, the use of Novell Netware as the network operating system).  As the Pembroke School District does not have a district-wide technology coordinator, individual building principals (supported by teachers serving as stipended building-level coordinators) make decisions for their schools.

The goals and action plans outlined in the technology plan create a roadmap for the Technology Committee and building-level administrators and coordinators to follow when making technology-related decisions.  Technology goals are aligned with the SAU 53 Professional Development goals and the district improvement plan.  Moreover, these goals recognize that technology is an integral part of the Pembroke Schools’ mission to allow our students to Achieve, Contribute, and Thrive throughout life.
