New for 2007-08 - netTrekker d.i. - A search engine accessing websites that have been selected by educators, based on academic integrity. Authority/credibility, comprehensiveness, and design are some of the criteria considered. Ask your library staff for the username and password.
EBSCOhost - This service, made available by the state library, provides access to databases for students including MAS Ultra (full text magazines), Newspaper Source, and Academic Search Elite. It also provides full text resources for teachers in the Professional Development Collection and ERIC databases. Ask your library staff for the username and password.
Newsbank - Access to archives of the Concord Monitor and Manchester Union Leader. See library staff for the password.
Biography Resource Center - Also provided by the state library, BioRC is an online biographical reference database with over 400,000 biographies covering literature, science, multicultural studies, business, entertainment, politics, sports, government, history, arts and newsmakers. Ask your library staff for the password.
Facts On File - We have a subscription to four databases covering current events, key newsmakers, current statistics, scientific developments and controversial issues. PA students, faculty, or administrators -- ask the library staff for the User ID and Password. This will allow you to access this service from the Internet at home or at school.
CQ Researcher - We have added the online index and full text to our subscription to this resource for studying contemporary issues and topics. The print version is still available in the library. Use whichever is most convenient!
World Book Online Reference Center - World Book is our online multimedia encyclopedia and reference source. Ask the library staff for the user ID and password.
FirstSearch -
We now have access to a basic FirstSearch
package consisting of WorldCat and 12 other databases. This is made available to
public high school libraries by the state library. It can be accessed locally
from the PA library. Ask the library staff for assistance. The base FirstSearch
