Tire change with flat tire- Locate emergency jack and lug wrench. Remove the center cap. Break all lug nuts free, about half a turn. Then jack up the car, put the jack on a well supported part of the frame. (See safety tips for supporting a vehicle.) Remove the lug nuts, then remove the spare tire (usually under the vehicle), then take off the bad tire and replace it with the spare. Tighten the lug nuts then lower the vehicle. (With vehicle back on ground tighten the lugs ¼ to ½ a turn more. Warning- the spare tire is only recommended for 50 miles. It is also not recommended to exceed speeds of 45 miles per hour. Also make sure that all your tires are at the manufacturers recommended pressure. The tire pressure information is usually located on a label inside the drivers door jam. |
